About Callender Lake

purpthrift02

Callender Lake is a 365 acre private lake made up of two separate gated subdivisions, “Hickory Hills” on the west side, and “Callender Lake” on the east side. Being gated means that the only way to gain access to either of the subdivisions and the lake is to own property there, or to be the invited guest of a property owner. Callender Lake is a constant level lake, one of only a few in Texas, being fed by seven different streams and water sources.

Because the lake is stocked regularly, there is excellent fishing, both by boat and from the shore. Fishing is reserved for residents only and their guests.

Jet Skis, power boats, sailing boats, and fishing boats are all allowed. However because this is a private lake, there is relatively little traffic. Both east and west sides allow boat docks. Each of the two subdivisions have different restrictions and requirements. The east (Callender Lake) side only allows site built homes, and therefore has more restrictions than the west (Hickory Hills) side, which also allows mobile homes. The Callender Lake side has a community boat ramp, fishing pier, children's park, and a swim beach with picnic areas and bathrooms. The Hickory Hills side has a community boat ramp, children’s park, basketball court, swimming pool, two public restrooms.
